Yani
Coach Yani has been a certified coach since 2017, but make no mistakes about it, she has been helping others on their fitness journeys for several years before that! Prior to fitness, she attended college to pursue her other passion in Forensic Science. She joined the NYPD in July of 2001 and quickly learned about policing (or as they say “the job”)! She was working in NYC on September 11, 2001 and on that day, although tragic, it molded her into a person that she didn’t realize she had in her. Her desire to help strangers that day and over the years grew stronger and stronger. During her career she realized that stress and depression comes along with policing. She created running groups and workouts regiments to help herself as well as her colleagues. While still being active and serving, she felt obligated to learn more about human anatomy and how to properly teach form and execution. She then obtained her personal trainer certification with NASM in 2017. In 2022, she retired from the force after 21 years of dedicated service. Just because of retirement, Yani ‘s passion for fitness and helping others was still poking at her. That calling was satisfied when she began coaching at a CrossFit
gym as well as other fitness centers. Her growth and perspective as a coach has allowed her to understand the value in technique, form, and being a better athlete. That passion of serving others has never left her. Coach Yani has participated in CrossFit competitions and has run 10 full marathons. Her favorite quote is, “They say do what you love and you never work a day in your life.”
